And hooray, it’s the weekend. But unfortunately there is very little time for me to rest, with work continuing through the weekend and the days getting busier and busier as the holiday season is upon us. But perhaps you can take some time out on behalf of me. Maybe even take a look at one of the projects above that are so befitting to the weekend.

See you next week.

Happy Weekend

Amidst polished pianos, piles of beautiful thick paper and the recent weather heating up so much it seems to have caught everyone by surprise,  the week is at an end. With the weekend beckoning at us, there are talks of trips to the beach, early coffees on our patio and picnics to be planned as we take advantage of the pleasant temperature that still remains, at least until the intense heat of the summer invades our city. But until then, here are a few weekend links from around the globe:01.ACupOfJo.ChristmasParties

one | a fantastic idea on taking photos are Christmas parties
two | what a brilliant idea for a birthday present
three | I think these glasses were made just for me
four | a scratch and sniff wine book. Yes, I said scratch and sniff

And Perth locals, don’t forget about the following events happening this week:
+ Carnaval Macabre (25 October – 03 November)
+Italian Fireworks Night {sounds amazing!} (8 November)
+Festival Batizado (02 November)

Have a lovely weekend.

Happy Weekend + Perth weekend events

With hours spent at the piano learning meticulous notes and ensuring accuracy in preparation for concerts, little time has been left to go out and enjoy the spring weather (however, now that I think of it, the heavy rains and wailing winds have made it a tad difficult to do so. Perhaps between you and I, that can be my pitiful excuse). Unfortunately, writing too has been off the agenda. But do not despair, here I am offering you a few events to check out if you happen to be in the area or are planning a delightful weekend:

BarDeHalcyondiscover: explore what Chinatown has to offer and come along to the City of Vincent’s Chinatown Discovery Tour this Saturday morning (21 September 9.30am – 11.30am)
festival: pick up some freshly cut wildflowers as a part of the Kings Park spring festival or if you have young ones, bring them along to the Fantastic Faraway Festival, a spring festival just for them! (21 September 10.30am – 02.30pm)
art: take a peek at how artists view our city and visit the Black Swan Prize Art Exhibition (20 – 30 September)
music: get your music fix at this free Appalachian Spring Concert by featuring of Perth’s top classical musicians (Sunday 22 September 3.30pm – 5.00pm)
eat: visit newly opened small Bar de Halcyon (read a great review here)

Have a great weekend!
PS. Don’t forget to check out these fantastic art exhibitions while they’re still on

Happy Weekend

The weekend is here, but what a shame that the blustery winds and persistent rains make me shy away from the adventure that awaits me, with the Perth Fashion Festival on its last legs  and so many cafes and restaurants on my list to try out. Oh, if only I were more brave and not nestled in my fort of blankets and pillows, going through the beautiful photos from the festival that have been uploaded by other bloggers (such as Where They Styled Things Are and Le Fanciulle) who have braved the weather and done a sensational job covering the event. But whilst I’m snug as a bug in a rug, allow me to share with you a few links for the weekend:

one: a collaboration between Audi and Bosendorf. Love it or hate it?
two: an DIY trivet that doesn’t even look handmade at all
three: a pie clock!
four: beautiful travel inspired wedding invitations
five: dogs + planes = awesomeness

And on an end note, did you see the photo of Anna Wintour, the Ice Queen of the fashion industry, slip a sweet smile when she was sitting next to little Harper Beckham at the recent Victoria Beckham show? It sure has caused quite a storm – Anna Wintour smile?! Amazing!

Anyway, hope you’re having a grand weekend!

Happy Weekend

Happy weekend everyone! Have any big plans? Today, J and I had a lovely stroll through Hyde Park and spotted these beautiful swans and their little ones. Isn’t it nice to just pause and marvel at the beauty around us, even if it’s as simple as the warmth of the afternoon sun on a cold and chilly day? As usual, here a few links for you weekend:

Hidden Spaces

Imagine living in a beautiful home with sky high ceilings, French-style paneling and hidden doorways. Now, wouldn’t that be divine?

On this beautiful winter afternoon (more like fake-winter) (Perth isn’t very good at cold winters – the days seem to turn out rather sunny with a slight chill in the air), the Duke and I drove along the riverside in search coffee beans. And coffee beans we found, first at Typika followed by another purchase at Elixir. Tomorrow morning, hopefully we will be able to make a small trip to Mary Street Bakery and purchase a small bag of beans by Pound (all these beans are locally roasted in our little city of Perth). Why so much coffee, you may ask? Sure, we may drink a fair amount of coffee but the numerous purchases are in fact all in the name of research. The Duke is rather keen on finding out the difference between the different blends (by means of a thorough taste test of course) and next week, he will be my guest on this humble little blog, posting his results and findings. But until then, here are the usual weekend links:

Interior: beautiful monochrome wares Australian company The Minimalist
Design: a printer that sits on top of the paper, no print tray required
Paper: beautiful calligraphy by Julie Song Ink
Fashion: loving the fall shoot in September Vogue, featuring Jennifer Lawrence
Kitchen: my favourite brownie recipe

See you next week!

Sunday’s Child

…is blithe and gay, and what better way to be so than at an enormous picnic with your closest friends and family. So just before the working week begins again, Sunday’s child takes full opportunity to relax with her loved ones, may it be with a delicious picnic feast, a rowdy game of bocce (how could a game bocce be rowdy, you may ask. Trust me, with endearing younger ones and the family pets joining in, things very much have the potential to get out of hand) or lazily flipping through her favourite design magazines with the hum of chatter and the occasional burst of laughter (always from the cheeky ones) in the background.

Happy Weekend

…though the storms in Perth have settled into a light slumber for the time being, it still remains rather nippy outside. So perhaps my plan for what remains of the weekend will be to stay indoors, rugged up with a book in hand as the soft vocals of Katie Costello gently glides in the air above. And as usual, below are some lovely link for you to look through if you so desire. Happy weekend everyone.

Music: a side of Adele that is rarely seen – her cheeky sense of humour between songs. Concert venue: The Royal Albert Hall
Design: loving the details of Melbourne’s The Town Mouse. Their business cards glow in the dark!
Fashion: carousels + valentino = perfection
Paper: modern DIY Save The Date
Drink Up: dark berry, rosemary and juniper fizz

PS. Perth readers, did anyone go to see James Blake at The Astor Theatre on the weekend? What did you think? I loved it! And to those who aren’t in Perth, do you like James Blake’s style/music? Something rather different, isn’t it?
