Christmas Tree Inspiration

This year, our christmas tree will not be the centre of attention due to the lack of space in my humble abode. And so, my good friend Luke helped me create the silhouette of a tree on one of our blank walls and I’m in the process of making a large quantity of snowflakes to decorate our “tree” with, as well as to stick on every single glass surface in our house. Even though it’s getting hotter as December progresses, perhaps the multitude of snowflakes will help me feel less uncomfortable in the scorching 40°C heat (gosh, wishful thinking, I know). So if you’re like me and lack the space, below are a few trees that may tickle your fancy:

Hope the weather is perfect where you are today.

And hooray, it’s the weekend. But unfortunately there is very little time for me to rest, with work continuing through the weekend and the days getting busier and busier as the holiday season is upon us. But perhaps you can take some time out on behalf of me. Maybe even take a look at one of the projects above that are so befitting to the weekend.

See you next week.

Fika – a beautiful cookbook

On a small expedition to Ikea to browse through the latest additions to their collections, I came across the most beautifully styled cookbook I’d seen in a long time. Each ingredient used in the recipe is carefully laid out with exact precision, each clove identical to its neighbour and every piece of chocolate positioned with the greatest care. The work of photographer Carl Kleiner and stylist Evelina Bratell has resulted in this exquisite book where everything is broken down to its simplest form and yet is so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Perhaps this will encourage me to dust off the cake tins and whip up a bit of magic in the kitchen.

Home Screen Round Up

With the change that has been brought about as a result of iOs 7, there has been much debate to its good and bad points. Some love, some hate, and some feel rather indifferent all together. Regardless of the numerous points that can be stated, the change is here to stay. And what better time to change up your homescreen than with a few of these beauties. Well, you don’t have to if you really really love your original wallpaper, but they’re still there for the taking if you so desire. To get the wallpapers, click on the images, which will take you to the main site where you will find your small dose of design.

Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

My piano studio is looking rather dull and disorganised, and the lack of natural sunlight unfortunately doesn’t make it any better. Looking through these beautiful images of large rooms with sunlight pouring large windows makes me wishful for a little bit more space in the quarters of the house where the sounds from the piano dance in the air like woodland faeries at a spring festival, moving amidst the piles of manuscripts and dancing a slight gigue between Bach and Beethoven.

Inspiration: Intricate Mouldings

My my, time sure has flown by this year. There is only one more week of school left before Term 3 comes to a close and two weeks of sleeping in a little bit later beckon and call. But before the holidays are here, I still have to soldier through this last week and what better way to see me through this windy and dreary Monday than with some beautiful images of intricate mouldings, some grand and ornate, others simple and clean.

Happy Weekend

The weekend is here, but what a shame that the blustery winds and persistent rains make me shy away from the adventure that awaits me, with the Perth Fashion Festival on its last legs  and so many cafes and restaurants on my list to try out. Oh, if only I were more brave and not nestled in my fort of blankets and pillows, going through the beautiful photos from the festival that have been uploaded by other bloggers (such as Where They Styled Things Are and Le Fanciulle) who have braved the weather and done a sensational job covering the event. But whilst I’m snug as a bug in a rug, allow me to share with you a few links for the weekend:

one: a collaboration between Audi and Bosendorf. Love it or hate it?
two: an DIY trivet that doesn’t even look handmade at all
three: a pie clock!
four: beautiful travel inspired wedding invitations
five: dogs + planes = awesomeness

And on an end note, did you see the photo of Anna Wintour, the Ice Queen of the fashion industry, slip a sweet smile when she was sitting next to little Harper Beckham at the recent Victoria Beckham show? It sure has caused quite a storm – Anna Wintour smile?! Amazing!

Anyway, hope you’re having a grand weekend!

Create Your Own Wall Gallery

What could be a better way to display your photos of those precious moments or to exhibit someone’s proud artwork than to lay them out on a wide span of space and create your own gallery wall. Or as the image above shows, you don’t even need to have many images for the gallery walls – inspirational quotes work just as well. Perhaps this would be a fun weekend project for the family. For some tips on how to create your own gallery wall (such as consistency in frames or perhaps even a colour that runs the artwork), do head over to Design Crush. It is quite a good read for those who are up to the project.

(I love how the gallery is not all hung up but instead sits on the shelves or leans against the wall)

Hope you’re having a delightful day.
