Now wouldn’t these be a wise choice?

Upon looking into a restaurant in the bustling city center of Perth, I came across the details for this beautiful home on Hardiman Street, Melbourne, developed by ODR artichects for LifeSpaceJourney.

01.HardimanSt

With open spaced rooms abundant with natural light, the sparsely decorated white walls are the perfect backdrop for sculptures and art installations.

05.HardimanSt

Classic filament lighting with Edison era globes give a stern nod to the cottage’s Victorian heritage.

03.HardimanSt

Black painted door knobs recycled into a coat rack are perfectly juxtaposed with the grand front door, and I must say, that sure is a striking golden entrance.

Hope you’re having a sweet day.

happy weekend

weekendlinks

And oh, how the weekend is already here. Does it seems like the days are flying past us or is it just me? The last time I thought about it, I was lazing about on my front porch enjoying my long summer holiday. And yet to think that in two weeks, we are halfway through the first school term. New York and London fashion week have flown by and Autumn is soon upon us (hooray! I’ve had enough of Perth’s stifling heat and humidity). But before the weekend is over, here are a few weekend links:

(clockwise, from top left)
one | white on white, beautiful garlands that would be a delight in any room
two | chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, need I say more?
three | lovely geometric jewellery
four | a natural scrub with four simple ingredients
five | what beautiful floors!
six | a citrus wreath, such a different but clever gift

Happy weekend!

With the arrival of the warmer weather comes the prospect of outdoor dinner parties amidst the backdrop of the raspberry red sky. Beautiful platters of antipasto will be spread out along the long wooden table, glasses will be bountifully filled with fizz and bubbles, and there will be the constant hum of laughter and soft chatter as you relax in good company. With all this in mind, wouldn’t now be the perfect time for a slight kitchen upgrade, may it be some new tableware that takes us back to the days of chemistry and physics or some salt and pepper shakers disguised as the humble straw. What’s your favourite idea from above?

Hope that it’s a lovely day wherever you may be.

Holiday Home

DesignedForLife.Outdoor

With summer approaching, I can’t help but think how wonderful it must be to have a holiday home, a house by the beach where you can escape the bustle of the city and just take your time as you bask in the warm rusty sun and breathe in the fresh air.

On the way to a small breakfast outing this morning, I couldn’t help noticing an inconspicuous sign indicating a store in the higher levels of the building. Looking into it, the sign belonged to the Corner Store who stock not only lovely gifts and creations, they are the exclusive distributor for La Maison furniture. And so in my mind, two and two came together – a beachside holiday home filled with La Maison furniture would be so perfect. Oh, a girl can dream.

Inspiration: Intricate Mouldings

GrandSalon01

My my, time sure has flown by this year. There is only one more week of school left before Term 3 comes to a close and two weeks of sleeping in a little bit later beckon and call. But before the holidays are here, I still have to soldier through this last week and what better way to see me through this windy and dreary Monday than with some beautiful images of intricate mouldings, some grand and ornate, others simple and clean.

Create Your Own Wall Gallery

Bloomingville_Fall2013_4

What could be a better way to display your photos of those precious moments or to exhibit someone’s proud artwork than to lay them out on a wide span of space and create your own gallery wall. Or as the image above shows, you don’t even need to have many images for the gallery walls – inspirational quotes work just as well. Perhaps this would be a fun weekend project for the family. For some tips on how to create your own gallery wall (such as consistency in frames or perhaps even a colour that runs the artwork), do head over to Design Crush. It is quite a good read for those who are up to the project.

Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Cupcakes-brownies-and-blondies-3

For Mother’s Day, my dear brother, A, bought a set of bowls similar to these and many packets of mum’s favourite chocolates, whilst my fantastic sister S and I will be cooking up a storm. Whilst the specifics have not been planned out, there is sure to be something hearty (perhaps pumpkin soup or coq au vin), plenty of drinks and most definitely a delectable dessert.

Still haven’t gotten around getting a gift for you mum? How about…
