happy weekend

weekendlinks

And oh, how the weekend is already here. Does it seems like the days are flying past us or is it just me? The last time I thought about it, I was lazing about on my front porch enjoying my long summer holiday. And yet to think that in two weeks, we are halfway through the first school term. New York and London fashion week have flown by and Autumn is soon upon us (hooray! I’ve had enough of Perth’s stifling heat and humidity). But before the weekend is over, here are a few weekend links:

(clockwise, from top left)
one | white on white, beautiful garlands that would be a delight in any room
two | chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, need I say more?
three | lovely geometric jewellery
four | a natural scrub with four simple ingredients
five | what beautiful floors!
six | a citrus wreath, such a different but clever gift

Happy weekend!

a new week + soft pastels

01.lofficiel

And already, a new week is upon us as we are past the half way mark of February. Summer in Australia (Perth at least) is still in full swing. Some may call us lucky but I can’t help but long for the crisp morning wind and the cool evenings that come with my beloved autumn. So in a longing for autumn, I bring to you lavender purple skirts, relaxed eggshell blue tweed jackets and even a cable knit cardigan in the most perfect shade of cream.02.03.lofficiel04.lofficiel05.lofficiel06.lofficiel07.lofficiel

Hope the weather is just perfect for you wherever you may be.

Today has been filled with errands, beginning with a lovely lingering breakfast with my dear sister, a short drive into the city, one too many cups of coffee, and ending with a heart warming dinner with all the family. And so now I am able to take a bit of time and introduce you to the charming work of Christine Lim.02.ChristineLim
In every single photo, Christine beautifully captures each moment. From the warm afternoon sun setting behind a grand vineyard to the roaring cheers of wedding guests as they give applause to the newlywed couple, no detail is left behind. 03.ChristineLim

Chanel

Amidst small bursts of work here and there, a drive this evening for some star gazing, and coffee, always freshly ground coffee, just a quick hello from me to you before we start the weekend. Following this week, posts will hopefully jump back onto the road of design, but for now, a little bit of romance and a touch of sparkle. Whoever said that we can’t indulge a bit?

Christmas Tree Inspiration

06.Washitape.DesignMilk

This year, our christmas tree will not be the centre of attention due to the lack of space in my humble abode. And so, my good friend Luke helped me create the silhouette of a tree on one of our blank walls and I’m in the process of making a large quantity of snowflakes to decorate our “tree” with, as well as to stick on every single glass surface in our house. Even though it’s getting hotter as December progresses, perhaps the multitude of snowflakes will help me feel less uncomfortable in the scorching 40°C heat (gosh, wishful thinking, I know). So if you’re like me and lack the space, below are a few trees that may tickle your fancy:

Hope the weather is perfect where you are today.

…amidst the pleasing sight of freshly cut roses, the aroma of humble pumpkin soup and the sound of laughter on the front porch on a late, balmy evening, this weekend has passed in a whirlwind of activity and we find ourselves at the beginning of a new week. So let us begin this day with some lovely calligraphy, some of it elegant and traditional, others modern and striking.

First Comes Love 2013

Processed with VSCOcam with lv01 preset

On a lovely Spring morning, Susan and I had the chance to visit the First Comes Love fair, held on the beautiful grounds of St Georges College. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the most delightful goodie bag containing not only the information of all businesses who took part but also a selection of letterpressed goods too. Walking through the grand rooms of St Georges College, we were greeted with friendly faces, all eager to show us their goods and talents. From fragrant floral arrangements to elegantly styled dinner tables to a wide selection bow ties, everywhere you looked was a filled with magnificent styling.

Happy Monday

Installation

After a whirlwind of a week, only now I am able to sit down for the shortest of breaks and indulge in a quick post for you. Amidst the sounds of students picking out singular notes on the piano, too many versions of Somewhere Over the Rainbow for auditions and a to-do list so long that it’s a sight for sore eyes, here are a few things that have caught my eye this past week:

(I think a hot air balloon ride needs to go on the list of things I have to do in the next five years)

With things finally settling down, posts will hopefully be back on a daily schedule.

Happy Monday!

four favourites: in the kitchen

lonelycity.fourfavourites.kitchen

straws | chalk | fruit | glass

With the arrival of the warmer weather comes the prospect of outdoor dinner parties amidst the backdrop of the raspberry red sky. Beautiful platters of antipasto will be spread out along the long wooden table, glasses will be bountifully filled with fizz and bubbles, and there will be the constant hum of laughter and soft chatter as you relax in good company. With all this in mind, wouldn’t now be the perfect time for a slight kitchen upgrade, may it be some new tableware that takes us back to the days of chemistry and physics or some salt and pepper shakers disguised as the humble straw. What’s your favourite idea from above?

Hope that it’s a lovely day wherever you may be.
