Camp

PalomaS.

In a few weeks time, a small group of close friends and I will be heading to the glorious south of Perth for a weekend of camping. With it being winter, there will be thick cable knits and warm woollen scarves with a touch of cashmere to keep it soft, a mix between the cozy wraps to keep the chill away in the evening and a baker boy hat for morning trips into the woods (more like the lush wine regions of the south). Though the nights will be cold, it will be filled with gatherings around the fire as we share stories known to very few; and amongst all that, laughter will ring true as the flames dance in the winter night.

Daydreaming of the getaway aside, here are five things that belong on a winter camping trip:

parka

A parka to keep the warmth in and the rain out

CRbag

A carry-all for all your gear.

moka

A moka pot – an absolute essential

cableknit

Cable knit pull over for those chilly mornings

boots

And lastly, your most trusted pair of boots.

Hope you’ve had a lovely start to the week.

Happy Weekend

Amidst polished pianos, piles of beautiful thick paper and the recent weather heating up so much it seems to have caught everyone by surprise,  the week is at an end. With the weekend beckoning at us, there are talks of trips to the beach, early coffees on our patio and picnics to be planned as we take advantage of the pleasant temperature that still remains, at least until the intense heat of the summer invades our city. But until then, here are a few weekend links from around the globe:01.ACupOfJo.ChristmasParties

Happy Weekend!

ASpectacularLife_Lonny.LuluDeKwiatkowski

With the school weeks slowly coming to end, I sure am looking forward to sleeping for just an hour or two, though the Duke sure does agonise waking up while I’m snugly tucked in my cocoon of warmth. There is no rest for the poor Duke; he doesn’t get school holidays like me. However, he does get holiday pay/sick leave/superannuation/any pay that the average bear receives from a big company. As a freelancer, when I stop working, the money stops coming in. And so I have to find my ways of keeping a continuous flow in the holidays, may it be the odd workshop for my piano students or a holiday music camp that I may be so fortunate to teach and be a part of. But enough about money. The long awaited weekend is here! And as usual, here are some links from around the globe for you to enjoy.

Until next week!

DIY: speaking of globes, why not give this diy chalkboard a go?

Stay: wouldn’t it be glorious to stay at JK Place Capri? Sublime.

Home: some lovely design for your hallway or bedroom.

Etiquette: Thank you cards. So simple yet I am sure they bring much joy to the recipient.

Drink Up: the Old Fashioned

Whilst spring is a-coming in so many lands, autumn has only truly begun in this little city. Tomorrow promises another street festival, perhaps one of the last as the days get shorter and the chill sets in.

Hope everyone has a chance to slow down and relax this weekend.

Music: the beautiful and sultry voice of Melody Gardot

Humor: Bic pens for women. Really? I guess it’s not something you see everyday

Food: So excited to dine here soon.

Travel: never realised that places like this existed – so unique

Drink up: the Duke is a big fan of the Dark and Stormy

Paper: did you ever play with this type of doll when you were young? Your sister perhaps?

Home: if you are in the mood for some cleaning and organising, try this
