Skylights

Skylights.05

My piano studio is looking rather dull and disorganised, and the lack of natural sunlight unfortunately doesn’t make it any better. Looking through these beautiful images of large rooms with sunlight pouring large windows makes me wishful for a little bit more space in the quarters of the house where the sounds from the piano dance in the air like woodland faeries at a spring festival, moving amidst the piles of manuscripts and dancing a slight gigue between Bach and Beethoven.

Holiday Home

DesignedForLife.Outdoor

With summer approaching, I can’t help but think how wonderful it must be to have a holiday home, a house by the beach where you can escape the bustle of the city and just take your time as you bask in the warm rusty sun and breathe in the fresh air.

On the way to a small breakfast outing this morning, I couldn’t help noticing an inconspicuous sign indicating a store in the higher levels of the building. Looking into it, the sign belonged to the Corner Store who stock not only lovely gifts and creations, they are the exclusive distributor for La Maison furniture. And so in my mind, two and two came together – a beachside holiday home filled with La Maison furniture would be so perfect. Oh, a girl can dream.

On an early Sunday morning, J woke me up and insisted that we go out for a sweet breakfast date. Reading a few posts the night before, I quickly chimed that we go visit fortysevenkirwanstreet in Wembley. And with no hesitation, we were off to the food and coffee that awaited us.

Upon arrival, the first thing that J said was that he wished we had a cafe down the road from our house. Fortysevenkirwanstreet is nestled in the suburbs, just off the busy main roads and would be the perfect place to get your hot coffee or a quick bite to eat before the day begins.

His: grilled mushies on parmesan brioche, caramelised onions, goats cheese, basil and endive (+ a side of hollandaise)
Hers: corn and ricotta fritters with avocado, roast cherry tomatoes, jalapeno sour cream (+ a side of bacon)

The service was great, the food fresh and well proportioned, and the coffee wasn’t too bad either. No complaints from me. The only slight thing that J wanted to point out was that his side of hollandaise was a touch thicker than he preferred. Other than that, we would be more than happy to have another meal here.

Inspiration: Intricate Mouldings

GrandSalon01

My my, time sure has flown by this year. There is only one more week of school left before Term 3 comes to a close and two weeks of sleeping in a little bit later beckon and call. But before the holidays are here, I still have to soldier through this last week and what better way to see me through this windy and dreary Monday than with some beautiful images of intricate mouldings, some grand and ornate, others simple and clean.

Happy Weekend + Perth weekend events

ZsaZsaBellagioNaturalGlam

With hours spent at the piano learning meticulous notes and ensuring accuracy in preparation for concerts, little time has been left to go out and enjoy the spring weather (however, now that I think of it, the heavy rains and wailing winds have made it a tad difficult to do so. Perhaps between you and I, that can be my pitiful excuse). Unfortunately, writing too has been off the agenda. But do not despair, here I am offering you a few events to check out if you happen to be in the area or are planning a delightful weekend:

Lanterns

Wildflowers
BlackSwanPrize
St-Georges

BarDeHalcyondiscover: explore what Chinatown has to offer and come along to the City of Vincent’s Chinatown Discovery Tour this Saturday morning (21 September 9.30am – 11.30am)
festival: pick up some freshly cut wildflowers as a part of the Kings Park spring festival or if you have young ones, bring them along to the Fantastic Faraway Festival, a spring festival just for them! (21 September 10.30am – 02.30pm)
art: take a peek at how artists view our city and visit the Black Swan Prize Art Exhibition (20 – 30 September)
music: get your music fix at this free Appalachian Spring Concert by featuring of Perth’s top classical musicians (Sunday 22 September 3.30pm – 5.00pm)
eat: visit newly opened small Bar de Halcyon (read a great review here)

Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend

Apartment.AthenaCalderone

The weekend is here, but what a shame that the blustery winds and persistent rains make me shy away from the adventure that awaits me, with the Perth Fashion Festival on its last legs  and so many cafes and restaurants on my list to try out. Oh, if only I were more brave and not nestled in my fort of blankets and pillows, going through the beautiful photos from the festival that have been uploaded by other bloggers (such as Where They Styled Things Are and Le Fanciulle) who have braved the weather and done a sensational job covering the event. But whilst I’m snug as a bug in a rug, allow me to share with you a few links for the weekend:

Weekdaycarnival.Trivet

INK.Dogfighters

one: a collaboration between Audi and Bosendorf. Love it or hate it?
two: an DIY trivet that doesn’t even look handmade at all
three: a pie clock!
four: beautiful travel inspired wedding invitations
five: dogs + planes = awesomeness

And on an end note, did you see the photo of Anna Wintour, the Ice Queen of the fashion industry, slip a sweet smile when she was sitting next to little Harper Beckham at the recent Victoria Beckham show? It sure has caused quite a storm – Anna Wintour smile?! Amazing!

Anyway, hope you’re having a grand weekend!
