one | a weekend project – create a skyline with washi tape
two | a freshly baked notebook
three |floating candles –  a beautiful festive idea for the home
four | new tape from oh hello, friend
five | free font!

And hooray, it’s the weekend. But unfortunately there is very little time for me to rest, with work continuing through the weekend and the days getting busier and busier as the holiday season is upon us. But perhaps you can take some time out on behalf of me. Maybe even take a look at one of the projects above that are so befitting to the weekend.

See you next week.

awards

Over the past few months, I have been nominated for a number of blog awards from fellow wordpress bloggers. I would like to truly thank you all for thinking of me and but I bear the sad news that I am not able to accept them. With a limited amount of time each day to post,  I am not able to keep up with the questions that the awards require you to answer. But that’s not to say that the awards aren’t a fantastic way to introduce your blog to a wide range of  readers. So fellow bloggers who have been so kind, please know that it doesn’t go unnoticed. Despite bowing out of the awards that are so kindly being passed around, I want to give a small shout out and thank the following sweet bloggers:

Alica from Pin Up Picks Pen Up
Maggie from Kiss and Make-Me Up
Amanda from The Chef, His Wife and Their PERTH-fect life

A multitude of thanks for your support!

Andrew Christie – A Good Looking Man

02.agoodlookingman.OddDetailLo

As I was browsing the archives for locally produced furniture for my studio, I came across the amazing works by Andrew Christie of A Good Looking Man. Creating amazing furniture out of wood (most of which is recycled), Andrew wears many hats and is a truly talented being. He is currently the anchor tenant at the Production Floor at the newly opened MYRE Building in Fremantle. For more information about his works and workshops, visit his website here. Or if you have some time on your hands, click here to read an interview with Andrew Christie on We Love Perth.

Yuniko Studio

01YunikoStudio

My recent fascination with all types of ceramic wares and handcrafted treasures has led me to discover the elegant pieces by Anthea Carboni of Yuniko Studio. From birds going around in circles to cute and clever cats, each piece is of pure organic beauty and utterly charming.

Anthea is heavily inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi sabi, the acceptance of that which is imperfect, with the aesthetic sometimes described as a beauty being found in the “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.” This is prominently seen in so many of her creations and is what draws such a vast following to her work.

Based in Perth, these exsquisite ceramics can be found at Nell’s Emporium & Cafe in Mosman Park or at her etsy store.

First Comes Love 2013

On a lovely Spring morning, Susan and I had the chance to visit the First Comes Love fair, held on the beautiful grounds of St Georges College. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the most delightful goodie bag containing not only the information of all businesses who took part but also a selection of letterpressed goods too. Walking through the grand rooms of St Georges College, we were greeted with friendly faces, all eager to show us their goods and talents. From fragrant floral arrangements to elegantly styled dinner tables to a wide selection bow ties, everywhere you looked was a filled with magnificent styling.

Holiday Home

DesignedForLife.Outdoor

With summer approaching, I can’t help but think how wonderful it must be to have a holiday home, a house by the beach where you can escape the bustle of the city and just take your time as you bask in the warm rusty sun and breathe in the fresh air.

On the way to a small breakfast outing this morning, I couldn’t help noticing an inconspicuous sign indicating a store in the higher levels of the building. Looking into it, the sign belonged to the Corner Store who stock not only lovely gifts and creations, they are the exclusive distributor for La Maison furniture. And so in my mind, two and two came together – a beachside holiday home filled with La Maison furniture would be so perfect. Oh, a girl can dream.

Have a lovely day.

fortysevenkirwanstreet

On an early Sunday morning, J woke me up and insisted that we go out for a sweet breakfast date. Reading a few posts the night before, I quickly chimed that we go visit fortysevenkirwanstreet in Wembley. And with no hesitation, we were off to the food and coffee that awaited us.

Upon arrival, the first thing that J said was that he wished we had a cafe down the road from our house. Fortysevenkirwanstreet is nestled in the suburbs, just off the busy main roads and would be the perfect place to get your hot coffee or a quick bite to eat before the day begins.

His: grilled mushies on parmesan brioche, caramelised onions, goats cheese, basil and endive (+ a side of hollandaise)
Hers: corn and ricotta fritters with avocado, roast cherry tomatoes, jalapeno sour cream (+ a side of bacon)

The service was great, the food fresh and well proportioned, and the coffee wasn’t too bad either. No complaints from me. The only slight thing that J wanted to point out was that his side of hollandaise was a touch thicker than he preferred. Other than that, we would be more than happy to have another meal here.
